MEMORIES OF JACK GOODCHILD

Boxing Day will never be the same again. It used to be a time to celebrate freely, recover from Christmas, do whatever you want. I personally will only be able to think of one thing when it next comes round. Memories, mostly good, of our greatest ever supporter. A special man, a good friend to anyone and everyone, whatever their background or age. Mr Jack Goodchild. We all have our own fond memories of Jack. He was an amazing man. He always had time for you, to talk about the good old days or the current squad. His liveliness and enthusiasm for the club could easily let you forget he was 82. I was at his final match - Basingstoke. It is rather fitting that my final words to him were, "see you on Saturday." He was still there in spirit.
